Fondy Farmers Market's 3rd Annual Greens Throw Down
Free to watch; $15 to enter the contest and cook
Fondy Farmers Market
2200 West Fond du Lac Ave.
Milwaukee, wi. 53206
On July 24th the action unfolds as local cooks go head-to-head in a battle to crown Milwaukee's Best Greens Cook at the Fondy Market's 3rd Annual Greens Thrown-Down. The Greens Throw-Down takes place from 8-11 am, with judging by local celebrities at 11 am. Free parking is provided in an adjacent parking lot.
The Greens Throw-Down is a celebration of Fondy's biggest and most beloved vegetable; greens! The Fondy Market sells more than 20 varieties of fresh, locally grown greens, including collards, mustard, tunip, beet greens, choy sum, spinach, swiss chard pumpkin leaf and more. Using greens purchased that morning at the market, local cooks will whip together original recipes in on-site makeshift kitchens to determine who can create the most delicious, appealing greens dish. 1st prize is $250 and a Blue Ribbon Apron. 2nd prize is $150 and a runner-up apron.
There are still a few spots left if you wish to enter.
