About Slow Food Wisconsin Southeast

Preserving Artisan Foodways • Championing Scratch Cooking in the Modern Kitchen

Slow Food Wisconsin Southeast was founded in 2007 as a grassroots regional chapter of Slow Food USA. Our educational philosophy is rooted in the worldwide movement founded by Carlo Petrini: that everyone deserves access to food that is good (delicious and nutrient-dense), clean (produced without harmful environmental impact), and fair (accessible and ethical for producers and consumers alike).

Throughout our active chapter history across Milwaukee, Racine, Kenosha, and Waukesha counties, we organized farm tours, heirloom fruit preservation projects, urban kitchen nutrition workshops, and sustainable agricultural advocacy.

Our Digital Utility Initiative

Today, the modern digital manifestation of Slow Food WI-SE focuses on removing the barriers to artisan home cooking. Commercial food websites are inundated with aggressive advertisements, paywalls, and bloated articles that make simple kitchen math frustrating.

We provide high-precision, client-side digital calculators that run instantly in any web browser, completely free of charge. Whether you are baking wild sourdough, brining a holiday turkey, or fermenting seasonal garden cabbage, our tools deliver mathematical accuracy with zero digital friction.
